Punk Influences The 2014 Catwalk ...
It was nearly a year ago that the Costume Institute at The Met presented it's UBER trendy "PUNK Chaos to Couture" exhibit featuring the most delectable of the "made to measure" couture trade juxtaposed with the Bohemian DIY mentality for a new and modern take on the lavish world of avant gaurde luxury fashion. Standing in polar opposition from the free spirited democracy of the punks first influences since the 70's .. the pristine lines and regulation s of haute couture are put to the test with the result becoming one of artistry and wonderment. Having grown up in the 70's I am all down with this mix and match trend to create one's own expression of art and self. It is no wonder designers have seen, heard and listened to the fashion lovers of the world and responded in like for the 2014 runway season.
Since the days of Blondie, Adam Aunt and the legendary evenings at CBGB's NYC the counter culture has been making it's way into the mainstream. This year is no exception but a a tad more refined. Adding hardware to your outerwear, leather and elemental DIY artistry has been trending since the Met exhibit ... sneakers meet haute couture on runways globally. McQueen and Westwood are pure legends in this genre setting many industry standards. Think Haute Boho and away you go ! Have a look at some of the newest trends and venture into your inner experimental child with a dash of punk to your existing wardrobe. The idea is ti not overdo but marry the two for an energetically new vibe. Have a look at some images here and give it a whirl ... everything old is new again ... but in an oh so new way !!!;)
